Like
any other operational equipment, the Watermax solar submersible
pump requires minimum servicing. Although the pumps are manufactured
to the highest quality, any manufactured product need periodic
maintenance for long term, reliable use.
The following is required:
1) During the warranty period of 24 months
it is imperative to replace the diaphragms once after 12 months.
A free set of diaphragms is supplied with the pump. The purpose
of this replacement is to determine the wear and tear on the
diaphragms. These are actually manufactured to last at least
5 years, and in some cases we have received pumps for a service
after eight years without any diaphragm replacement. On the
other hand it is important we realize that special circumstances
(like sand or gravel in the water) may dictate more regular
diaphragm replacement. Once the diaphragms have
been replaced, one can inspect the replaced ones to determine
whether more regular replacement is required. Replacement
of diaphragms is a very easy task (takes approximately 10
minutes) and can easily be done by the customer. However,
during the warranty period, the pump can be sent back to SWPV,
with the free diaphragm set, for free replacement of the diaphragms.
2) After the warranty period diaphragms
should be replaced as follows (please note these are suggested
replacement cycles - also read paragraph 1 above):
Pumps with total heads 0 - 165ft (0 - 50m) and one or two
solar modules in series: Every 24 months
Pumps with total heads 0 - 165ft (0 - 50m) and three or four
solar modules in series: Every 18 months
Pumps with total heads of 166ft - 330ft (51 - 100m) (all
recommended solar module configurations): Every 18 months
Pumps with total heads exceeding 330ft (100m) (all recommended
solar module configurations): Every 12 months
3) The Watermax pumps are manufactured
of 316 stainless steel, high quality bronze, anodised aluminium
and a high quality DC motor and other spares. It is expected
that the pump can work for you for a lifetime. Over and above
diaphragm replacement, the brushes and bearings will have
to be replaced when the pump's performance decreases (usually
between 4 and 6 years after initial installation). Once this
was done the pump should be operative for a similar period.
Our pumps can always be serviced and should never be made
redundant. It also has value when reconditioned, should circumstances
dictate that you sell the pump.
4) Watermax owners in the USA can phone
SWPV for a service exchange unit when their pumps are due
for a service. This will ensure that you are not without water
when the pump is submitted for a service. Please contact SWPV
for details.
