Net Metering Systems are typically used in metropolitan or other areas that already have an existing utility supply infrastructure. This type of system is the most cost-effective for reducing your utility bill.
A net metering system can be designed to meet any energy supply requirement and nearly any budget. And it can be expanded in the future if more power generation capacity is required. Also, several systems can be installed to operate in parallel without any interference.
Net-metering packaged systems
Typical advantages include:
Relatively low cost
Virtually maintenance free
Simple system configuration
Modular
Expandable to any size
No user interaction required

Net Metering basic system configuration
1 - Utility supply. 4 - Utility inter-active inverter.
2 - Utility meter. 5 - Ground fault protection (if
3 - Residential circuit breaker array is installed on a roof).
distribution panel. 6 - Solar array.
Above is only intended to show basic configuration of a typical system. Additional safety and code required equipment may be required.
Typical disadvantages include:
No backup power is available
When utility power is lost, system shuts down.
Although no backup power is available with the standard system layout, backup power can be supplied using a standby generator. Contact SWPV to discuss this option.

A 1kW solar electric system installed on a home can offset 1 ton of CO2 pollution each year. Source: BP Solar
SWPV is available to answer your questions regarding all net-metering type systems, regardless of size, layout or location. We cover applications from very small residential grid-tie systems up to mega-watt scale industrial and commercial systems. Please contact us with any questions or comments.

Selecting your system
Follow these easy steps.
  1. Determine how many kWh you would want the system to produce per average month of the year.
  2. Find you location on the map below and note the color of the map for your location.
  3. Find the row in the table below the map which corresponds to the color of your location.
  4. Find the amount of kWh in the row corresponding to your location color, which is closest to your design kWh determined in step #1.
  5. Read the system model number from the table. Click on the model number to see the system configuration and pricing. Else, scroll down.

PLEASE NOTE: The figures supplied above are based on the minimum monthly energy production which can be expected during the worst solar month of the year. Perormance is calculated taking 8% inverter, 3% wiring and 4% soiling losses into account. Array temperature compensation is based on 77F. Lower temperatures will improve performance. Higher temperatures will reduce performance. Please contact SWPV with any questions.
